Background
Octopus provides omnichannel solutions for the retail industry, with a mission to help merchants bridge the gap between online and offline shopping. During my full-time role at Octopus Retail Management, I gained valuable experience by working on multiple e-commerce projects, which deepened my expertise in this area.
Responsibilities
For each project, I was involved in every phase, collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and developers to ensure the system met customer needs. My role was to translate customer requirements into functional, user-friendly interfaces and seamless interaction flows.
As Octopus has its own e-commerce builder system, one of my key responsibilities was to maintain and enhance the system’s user experience and interface. I also frequently created proposal designs for the sales team to present to prospective customers, leveraging my in-depth knowledge of the platform's capabilities.
Challenges
Effective communication is crucial to the success of our projects. We dedicate significant time to discussing functionality and workflows for each initiative. However, last-minute changes from clients can sometimes frustrate the development team. Documenting requirements thoroughly and minimizing last-minute adjustments would enhance team efficiency and ensure smoother product launches.
Through these projects, I gained deeper insights into the e-commerce industry, especially regarding managing thousands of SKUs and implementing various promotions and loyalty programs. Additionally, I acquired valuable experience in designing white-label systems, which further enriched my skill set.
